A best-of list in the form of a rant is awesome! You need more cursing and all-caps though.
So many “seasoned” artists and bands put out some of their best work in 2023. Or as you like to called them “adult music by adult musicians.” I somehow missed the Jarvis Cocker track (and Asteroid City), but will rectify that now. His 21st century renaissance has been remarkable. He’s been a perfect sonic fit for Wes Anderson. Gaz Coombes and Lilac Time also were big joys last year for me as well.
I didn’t like the latest Pretenders album as much as the previous two, but maybe I needed more time spent with it.
A bunch of stuff I hadn’t heard, like Emily King and Flight Attendant and The Sheepdogs, among others. Hopefully I can find some 2024 time to check them all out...
